Meet Chef Liz

Elizabeth Baase started her career at the age of 11, when she won third place at in the Girls Scout Annual Cake Bakeoff for the state of Georgia. She went on to graduate from Johnson-Wales Culinary Institute with a focus on sauces and pastries.  She became Head Chef at the Black Swan, and at the age of 44 she because the youngest (first female) Vice President of the American Culinary Federation. After her “political career,” she because Executive Certifying Chef for Royal Carribean Cruise Lines. Later, while serving large crowds in Monroe, GA  during the Covid pandemic, when sit-down restaurants were closing their doors, she discovered how to keep a fine-dining eatery profitable by packaging fine meals affordably for curbside pickup or delivery. Now, Chef Liz has resettled in Habersham County alongside her mom and brother to open her own family restaurant, Avoline’s Kitchen, offering good home cooking to eat at home, at work, or on your hiking or camping trip.
